ABOUT US

NOT ONE RIVAL

Not One Rival was founded based on one principle: people first.

N1R is here to help you sort through the crap that is out there now by bringing you actionable and useful content.

We are focused on fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. If there is one thought that has always resonated with me it’s: If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of the ones you love.

Therefore living a healthy life is a necessity for all of us and we are here to help you do that. Whether you are a busy Mom or Dad, beginner or seasoned fitness enthusiast we are here to help you make the best out of your workouts at home.

my story (the short version)

Hi, I am Jeff Carpenter, Founder and Editor of N1R. I won’t bother you with intricate details of my life story, other than to let you know who I am.

I am a family guy, with 3 boys and a lovely wife who enjoys working out. I prefer to workout at home for a number of reasons. Working out at home is cost effective (no gym memberships), convenient and most importantly a time saver.

I enjoy resistance training, high intensity interval training and mountain biking most. If you are in and around Austin, you will most likely find me tearing-up the local trails.

As a U.S. Marine Veteran, soccer player and Mountain Bike racer, I considered myself fit. However, things changed over time. Eating habits became worse, strength training faded, I stopped mountain bike racing and worked out only a couple of times per week.

The outcome was clear one day when looking through birthday party pics and I saw a dude, who’s shirt looked stretched. Not the sleeve-bursting stretch of swole arms, but the button stretched look of “oh wow, that shirt is way to small for that guy”.

The dude in the pic was me…

At that moment I came to the realization that I had fallen off the path. I changed things right then and there. I went into a full Paleo diet to clean-up nutrition and did every high intensity workout I could stream on demand. Insanity, Insanity Asylum, TapOut XT and on and on. Finally settling into weight lifting and mountain biking as my primary form of exercise.

Until I was sorted…

It took about 2 years to get to a point where I was happy with myself. I dropped 30 pounds of fat and have kept it off for about 6 years now.

Getting there wasn’t easy though.

It took a lot of work and commitment, and I found it really difficult to piece together what I needed to really get back in shape and stay that way. I found most information out there to be incomplete, wrong or simply regurgitated sales pages turned into review articles.

My mission here is to help you sort that out by bringing you the best information about home workouts, home gym equipment and healthy eating so that you look and feel better but most importantly get fit and stay that way.

HOW DO WE CREATE CONTENT?

Each piece of content on this site has been reviewed and edited by me to ensure the highest quality standards. I do have a team of freelance writers who help me put articles together, but nothing is published without my approval.

This is done to be sure that the information published is accurate so that you can trust it to help you make informed decisions when trying a new workout program or selecting home gym equipment that is best for your needs.

I try to get my hands on as many items reviewed on this website as possible, but that is not always practical. I also spend time at gym equipment and bike shops to speak with their staff to learn more about their products so that this feedback can be provided to you.

In all cases we do extensive research and review online feedback from actual product buyers. Workout program reviews are based on online feedback from buyers and our own experience.

Also, our review is not the only one that counts. We appreciate your feedback and would love for you to post comments or leave a review of your own experience so that we keep this site unbiased with a balanced point-of-view.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Why should you read anything on Not One Rival? Simply put, this is a no bullshit zone. I don’t like spam as much as you do. You won’t get any of that here. If any of these points resonate with you, I am sure you will enjoy being part of the N1R community.

  • You want to read content on a spam free website. No ads, no email trying to sell you things.
  • You want advice based on real use experience, consumer feedback and extensive research.
  • You want useful and actionable content, from product reviews, workout program reviews, nutritional plans and workouts
  • You want a website founder that you can actually connect with and exchange communication
  • You want to voice your own opinions
  • You want to know how to get fit and stay fit

If you are onboard with any of these, I hope you stick around because we have a lot of great content for you here at N1R.
