My Total 80 Day Obsession Review
I’ve examined countless programs that claim to be able to help me get a bikini-ready body. But when I came across one on a platform named Beach Body on Demand, and developed by a personal trainer who’s actually competed in bikini competitions, I had to check it out.
I browsed dozens of 80 Day Obsession reviews. I couldn’t really find any legitimate complaints. Gripes along the lines of “It’s too hard” popped up occasionally. That piqued my interest more than anything, I think.

Things To Consider Before Subscribing To A Bikini-body Program
This kind of body sculpting program helps you transform your body into the shape you want. They focus mostly on your core.
Look before you leap.
Body transformation programs involve strict diets and intense workouts. They’re both necessary if you want to quickly reshape your body.
As you’ll see, the 80 Day Obsession meal plan is engineered precisely, and its workout regimen is borderline insane.
If you’re already on a diet per your doctor’s orders, you’ll have to make an appointment and discuss whether or not this kind of program is for you or not. The types of diets incorporated into effective body transformation programs usually don’t jive well with physician-ordered diets.
Think twice if you have any kind of back injury. Getting a bikini body means working hard on your core. That puts strain on your back muscles. If your form isn’t spot on, you may also be asking a lot from your spine.
If you’re not able to perform vigorous exercises, you may want to look at a long term weight loss program. You’ll still get into shape. It’ll take longer, but it will be easier on your back.
Don’t even think about it if you have a heart condition. These exercises are pretty brutal, and they jack up your heart rate for extended periods. Your doctor probably wants you to stick with light cardio and a high-fiber diet if you have a heart problem.
Ask yourself the following questions before proceeding:
- Is your goal to look good in a bikini?
- Are you willing and able to adhere to a strict diet?
- Can you engage in an intense workout program?
If you answered yes to all three of the above qualifiers, read on to learn about one of the most intense and comprehensive programs of this type out there.
Introducing 80 Day Obsession
80 Day Obsession is a body transformation program that promises to slim and tone your core and lift and firm your butt in less than three months.
It’s not for beginners, that’s for sure.
You need endurance to get through the high-burn 60-minute workouts. There is no lite version of the exercise regimen.
You’ll have to forget about big meals. The 80 Day Obsession meal plan is centered around several small meals throughout the day. There are no cheat days, either.
Let’s look at the pros and cons:
- Better results than the 21 Day Fix due to a longer program duration
- It doesn’t ignore your glutes like the competition basically does
- The workouts raise your metabolism – Keeping your new figure will be easier with regular exercise after the program is complete
- The meal plan is designed to work with the workouts – The right food at the right time
- Meal plan is tight – no cheating
- Workout regimen is brutal
Here’s an in-depth look at how it works and how it can benefit you.
Before going into details, you may be interested to know that there is a trial version available. It’s a five-day teaser that gives you a good idea as to what to expect from the meal plan and workouts.
To access A Little Obsessed, you have to sign up on the Beachbody on Demand platform.
You don’t need a bunch of equipment, which is great for those of us who workout at home.
Here’s what you absolutely must have:
- Dumbells: light, medium and heavy
- Resistance bands
- Beachbody strength slides
- Beachbody portion control containers
If you are already a Beachbody on Demand member, you may have some of their portion control containers from another program. They’re the same.
The dumbbells used in the workouts range from a few pounds to 40 pounds. As long as you have some that feel light and some that feel heavy to you, you have what you need. Don’t go out and buy a new set of dumbbells.
Optional equipment that’s good to have for these workouts include a good mat and maybe Beachbody’s foam roller.
I want to mention any hidden costs before getting into the program.
These are optional, but helpful in some cases.
Beachbody offers an array of supplements. You’ll get to see them after you join, if you haven’t already. They’re not necessary, but they ensure that you have the extra vitamins and minerals your body will need to survive the gruelling workouts. If you take a generic one-a-day vitamin and mineral supplement, ditch them and go with these. They’re more complete.
The Shakeology drinks are dense in protein and nutrients. They’re good to use during this program because protein helps to build muscle, which is what you have to do if you want to lose fat and gain tone. You don’t necessarily need them, but the program is offered with a Shakeology option to save you some money if you want them.
Beachbody offers all kinds of products that are needed or useful to complete this program. They’ve got everything from the dumbbells you need to the exercise mats that you’ll probably want.
You don’t have to buy anything else, other than the program and portion control containers. But if you do need any equipment, I recommend buying it from Beachbody. All their equipment is high-quality and durable.
Of course, don’t go pay them for something you already have or don’t necessarily need.
What You Get
Here’s everything you get when you choose the 80 Day Obsession program.
The first thing you do is go over the quick-start guide.
This concise guide gives you an overview of the program.
It helps you set your calorie goals. This is crucial, because you’ll use it to choose from one of the meal plans.
Once you’ve set your calorie goals, you pick from one of six regular eating plans or one of the six vegan variations.
These plans help you put together the small frequent meals that you’ll be eating for the remainder of the program.
Some diets give you a recommended food list and expect you to put all of their random foods together into something resembling a palatable meal. Don’t worry, you’ll find a bunch of delicious recipes on Beachbody on Demand’s website.
Container Food Lists
I like the way they make it so simple.
Each phase of the program has its own food list. Use the list when you go grocery shopping.
Each color-coded portion control food container corresponds to a particular type of food on the lists. So you fill each container with its food. Then when you go to prepare a meal, everything is already measured and laid out for you.
The 80 Day Obsession Calendar
This is basically your workout schedule.
You might lose your breath when you first see it. It looks complicated, but it really isn’t. Each day is a different workout.
Not only does this variety guarantee you won’t get bored, it ensures that all of the necessary muscles are getting toned. Expect the focus to be on your core and glutes.
The 80 Day Obsession Calendar also serves as an inspiration. You’re not only looking at the day you’re at, but you’re able to see where you’ve been and where you’re going.
I’ll give you three guesses about what the tracker sheets are for. The first two don’t count.
Yes, you use them to track your progress. I don’t know about you, but nothing gets me pumped like looking at my results. Seeing my success gives me the motivation I need to complete my goals.
Beachbody on Demand hosts some private members-only Facebook groups. You can post your 80 Day Obsession results and get some encouragement from your program mates if you want to.
More details about beachbody on demand can be read here. They often run free trials.
The trainer, Autumn Calabrese, and others show you how to do each workout in real time.
Let me tell you something about Autumn: She doesn’t play around. These workouts push even experienced trainers to their limits.
You’ll never do the exact same workout twice. I like that because I get bored pretty easily.
How The Program Works
It’s split up into three phases and ends with a peak week. Each phase’s eating plan is specially engineered for that phase’s workout plan. This is one of the unique keys to the program’s effectiveness.
You have to follow the meal plans and workout routines precisely. That’s why it’s called an obsession. You have to obsess over the details.
When asked if it was possible to develop a program that slimmed the core and lifted the butt simultaneously, Amber said it would take an obsession.
There are no treats worked into the meal plans. Treats would introduce a variable that might upset the balance of the program.
You may be used to workout plans that have modifiers to make the more intense exercises easier. There are some modifiers for these workouts, but they aren’t meant to give beginners an edge. They don’t detract much from the intensity.
You do get one day off per week. This is a break from the workouts, not the diet. Sorry, there aren’t any cheat days.
Amber isn’t just the trainer. She is a co-developer.
I looked at some of her other programs to get an idea about her level of expertise. I was impressed.
21 Day Fix reviews tell me that it has a level of intensity that almost rivals 80 Day Obsession’s. I read a 21 Day Fix review that said something like “This is high intensity interval training times a million.”
Autumn has also written a lot of healthy and nutritious recipes. Many of them are available on the Beachbody on Demand platform. You’ll be able to access and try them, as well as hundreds more, after you sign up.
Vegans are welcome. You’ll find a ton of recipes that call for no animal products at all. And they’re good, too.
Did I mention she has a killer bod? Never trust a skinny cook, and never trust a bikini-body trainer that doesn’t have a bikini body. You can trust Autumn.
What Can You Expect?
If you’re going to pay for something like this, you want to know what your results will be, right?
Your success depends on your determination.
You’ll feel the burn in your abs first. About day 14, you’ll begin to see more muscle tone around your core.
Shortly after that, your glutes will start to feel tighter. By the middle of the program, you’ll see the difference in your butt.
By the end of the program, you’ll probably have your bikini body. If you’re not quite there, you can go through the program again. Most people don’t have to though.
When you’re done and have met your goals, you’ll have a bonus: a revved up metabolism. You can go back to eating your regular healthy diet without having to worry about gaining the weight back.
You’re not going to want to give up on exercise forever, of course. But you’ll notice an endurance during exercise that wasn’t there before. You will be able to go harder and longer, regardless of the type of exercise you do.
80 Day Obsession Results
Before I even started to get to know this program, I scoured social media to see what people are saying about it.
I found numerous blog artciles and tweets that reported good progress and there are some good results from the beachbody on demand blog as well.
Mind you, these results might not be typical. You will need to put in the work and commitment to see great results. Consistency is the biggest factor when it comes to getting great results from any workout or nutrition program.
So take these with a grain of salt. They show what is possible. The rest really depends on you.
Daniel’s results come from a combination of following the program and using Beachbody supplements.
It also mentions that he is a beachbody independent coach so he would have some experience following their workouts.
He also used their supplments. I mentioned its not necessary. You can get comparable supplements from the grocery for less.
Another Independent beachbody Coach who completed the program and used their supplements like Shakeology and whatnot.
Great results overall.
I found this tweet from a person who is not a coach and was following 80 Day and having some good results.
Way to go!
80 Day Obsession Alternatives
80 Day Obsession is unique. There are other programs with similar nutrition and workout regimens, but none of them come close to the 80 Day Obsession results. Other programs don’t have the same grasp of the targeted meal plans.
Beachbody on Demand’s 21 Day Fix Extreme may be a good alternative in some cases.
Let’s compare them.
80 Day Obsession:
- 13 weeks long
- 45-60 minute workouts
- 6 workouts per week
- 80 unique workouts
- Intermediate to advanced workout level
21 Day Fix Extreme:
- 3 weeks long
- 30-minute workouts
- 7 workouts per week
- 8 unique workouts
- Beginner to intermediate workout level
21 Day Fix Extreme is geared more toward beginners who aren’t used to such a high intensity level.
The workouts are shorter, but you don’t get a day off.
The nutritional aspect is similar. Both programs make use of portion control containers.
Both allow for some modification of the exercises, but 80 Day Obsession doesn’t really allow anything that lowers the level of intensity.
My final two cents on the 80 Day Obsession program
A bikini body is not an easy goal to attain, especially if you’re looking to lift your butt. It takes a highly detailed diet and exercise program developed and led by an expert.
If you want a bikini body, but you’re a beginner, check out the 21 Day Fix reviews. That’d be a better fit for you. You can get through it in a few weeks. If you haven’t met your goals in that time, you can run through the program again. You’ll be writing your own 21 Day Fix review in no time.
If you have some experience with vigorous exercise and can stick to a very detailed and strict diet, 80 Day Obsession can give you results like no other program of its kind.
This program combines its diet and workout plans in a scientific way. I haven’t seen anything else quite like it.
The developer and trainer you’ll workout with is a dietary and exercise expert. Having competed in bikini contests, she knows all about bikini bodies.
You should start seeing results by day 14. That will give you the encouragement and motivation you need to get through the other 66 days.
Make sure you’re up for it first.
If your still on the fence or aren’t sure if you can stick with such a demanding body transformation regimen, consider trying A Little Obsessed first.
